With safety in mind of course, speeding fines are set to rise, with flightier motorists being fined up £2 500 under stricter laws introduced to send a "tougher message" to offenders.

Magistrates will be able to apply the maximum penalty of 150% of the offending driver’s weekly income (up from 100%) – from 24th April.

Motorists caught speeding on the motorway will potentially face the highest fine of £2 500, where as those caught elsewhere could be fined £1 000.
