A Fine Innings

Essex captain, Alistair Cook, has stepped down from his role of leading the England eleven after 59 matches in charge.  His reign as leader included 24 wins and 22 defeats (winning percentage 40.67%) but his personal record is far more impressive as England's highest run-scorer in Test cricket with 11 057, while his 140 Test appearances and 30 centuries are also national records.

Good luck to him and his successor- just make sure we retain the Ashes later this year.
